Title: GRB group activities

1
GRB group activities
  • Science group F2F meeting
  • Spalti's Ristorante, 417 California Avenue, Palo
    Alto

2
Group activities
  • Study of the LAT performance
  • On-ground GRB sensitivity (simulations,
    sensitivity to new model)
  • On-board GRB LAT sensitivity detection
    algorithms, collaboration with the Flight
    Software group.
  • Possibility of study different selection cuts,
    depending on the Science Case
  • On-ground
  • detection of faint bursts
  • Improvement spectral resolution,
  • On-board
  • Localization of bright bursts with high energy
    photons
  • Changing the OB filter consequently a GBM trigger
    (that provides also a ROI)
  • Support to DC2 and other data taken
  • Simulation of GRB sources
  • Check-outs for Science tools tests
  • Multiwavelength observations
  • NIR intermediate size-large telescopes for
    follow-up observations
  • GeV-TeV connection (inter-group with members from
    GRB, AGN group)
  • Importance of GLAST in the determination of the
high energy spectral index as inputs for TeV (low
    energy threshold) telescopes
  • Prospect EBL studies, constrain spectral
property at high energy (cut-off, HR emission,)
  • https//confluence.slac.stanford.edu/download/at
    tachments/2157/GRBs-multi-lambda-science.pdf

3
Papers scheduled before the launch
  • Simulation development for GLAST.
  • This category includes papers which describe how
the different approaches model the GBM low-energy
and LAT high-energy emission, as well as the
general framework for simulating GLAST data
    (Gleam)
  • Validation of the simulation codes, and to
evaluation of the LAT sensitivity, including
    sensitivity to specific spectral distributions.
  • Model-dependent sensitivity study
  • On-board reconstruction and trigger/localization
    algorithm specific to GRB detection.
  • Additional filters applied to realize the GRB
    event buffer
  • Trigger/localization algorithms and results
  • Analysis of "mock GRB data"
  • the LAT Data Challenges
  • Expected GRB properties - including spectral,
    temporal, luminosity, and redshift distributions
    - for bursts observable by GLAST.
  • Summary paper just before the lounch
  • Search for predicted quantum gravity (QG) effect
    in GRB time profiles.

4
