Decision Making

• Identify High impact weather (HIW) events
• Inputs from US field offices, research interest
  groups, Canada, Mexico in advance before 930AM
  EST (1430Z)
• Sensitive Area Calculations (SACs)
• SDMs collect all the information and pass to
  Yucheng Song
• Run NCEP ETKF targeting software, generating
  Siberia station table by 12PM EST (1700Z )
• DTS (ECMWF/UK MET OFFICE/METER FRANCE NCEP NRL)
• All targeting products ready by 12AM EST
  including DTS
• Select tracks and stations
• Prepare PPT or PDF files to collect weather
  evidence for cases
• Winter storm numbers?
• Decision making through Gotomeeting or Elluminate
  (300PMEST)
• (Need to coordinate among participants)
• Fixed tracks for easier air traffic control
  (C-130)
• Targeting 00Z
• Design flexible track for G-IV (X-Chat
  capability)
• Siberia stations table
• Decision made by 400PM EST (2100Z)
• eg. Jan 20, 2100Z, targeting Jan 23,12Z,
  Jan 24, 00Z
• (G-IV will take off 5 hrs earlier, i.e.
