  Climate Change, Ottawa.
• November 2002 released the Climate Change Plan,
  Ottawa.
• December 2002 ratified the Kyoto Protocol.
• February 2005 Kyoto Protocol entered into
  force.
• April 2005 released Moving Forward on Climate
  Change A Plan for Honouring Our Kyoto
  Commitment.
• Nov. 28 to Dec. 9, 2005 Canada to host the
  Conference of Parties (COP11), Montréal, Québec.

  Project Green was released on April 13, 2005

• Climate Fund market-based institution to manage
  the purchase of emission reduction and removal

• Minimum 1 billion (4-5B estimated)
• Potential for 75-115 Mt reductions for 2008-2012
• Focus on activities where quantification
  methodology is well advanced e.g. landfill gas

  (PERRL) Initiative has purchased reductions in
  four strategic areas
• LFG capture and combustion
• CO2 capture and geological storage
• Renewable energy
• Biological sequestration
• (Agriculture and Forestry)
• 13.75M over three purchase rounds (2002, 2004,
  and 2005)
• Provides economic incentive for immediate action
  in the reduction of GHG emissions
• Promotes better understanding of elements of
  emissions trading
