Requirements
  • System Requirement
  • PlantScape Vista/SCADA, R400 or R500.1
  • - Station 1.1 (Build 1358)
  • Experion PKS, R100
  • HBC EBI R200.1
  • Driver Requirement
  • Universal Modbus Driver (also referred to as
UMB driver)) for above releases (updated for
Ethernet Interface to HC900 and Trendview via
    Modbus/TCP)

Universal Modbus is a Honeywell term. The
driver uses the documented Modbus address map
that applies to many Honeywell products in
common. It means that the modbus addresses for
similar parameters, such as the PV of loop 1, in
different products are the same, or universal.

Products Supported by UMB Driver
Universal Modbus (UMB) Driver Supports
  • UDC 2300, 3300, 5300 Controllers
  • DPR 180, 250 Recorders
  • DR 4300, 4500 Recorders
  • VPR100, VRX 100, 180 Recorders
  • UMC800
  • HC900 (Ethernet)
  • TrendView Recorders (Ethernet)
  • All I/O, Pen Values

Universal Modbus Driver for HC900
  • QuickBuilder database acronym (named
    parameter) entry for
  • I/O (1st rack only, other racks use hexadecimal
    addressing)
  • Signal Tags, 1 to 1000 (read only)
  • Variables, 1 to 600 (read and write)
  • Control loops, 1 to 24 (loops 25-32 use hex
    addresses for loop parameters)
  • SP Programmers 1- 4 (requires only 1 Point
    assignment per programmer)
  • SP Schedulers 1 and 2
  • Provides standard displays for SP Programmers 1-
4, SP profile pre-plot and PV trending, and
recipe management for up to 1000 recipes
(Variables only), 1000 profiles, and 1000
    combined recipes (programmers and Variables).
  • Note SP Programmers 5 through 8 addressing not
    supported in PlantScape)
  • Supports HC900 Digital Signal Tags and
Variables for assignment to PlantScape Digital
    Status Points
  • All other non-named parameters use Modbus
    hexadecimal addressing
  • Supports UMC800 in addition to HC900 (up to
    UMC800 specification limits)

Database Preparation
Prior to QuickBuilder Database entry
  • Print out the following HC Designer Reports for
    each HC900
  • configuration
  • Tag Information Report lists all Signal Tags
    and Variables by
  • number with tag names and descriptors
    for association
  • Block Modbus Addresses lists major (principal)
    blocks by
  • number such as loops, setpoint
    programmers, sequencers, etc.

The numbers entered for HC900 control loops,
signal tags, variables, etc. in QuickBuilder
correspond to those listed in these reports.
