Association Strategic Plan 2002-2004 March
2003 The VICPA executive team are committed to
the ongoing development and evaluation of the
activities of the association. The strategic
planning process is central to this commitment.
The plan will be extensively reviewed and updated
annually. VICPA members are encouraged to
comment on this document. Your input is
essential to ensure that the executive group are
providing the leadership in the areas considered
important to our members. You can comment by

Strategic Plan 2000 Whats been happening?
  • Recommendations from the 2000 Strategic Planning
    Process
  • Membership package
  • Develop package for new members. Currently
    working with secretariat to develop new members
    information pack, it will include the strategic
    plan, contact information, rules of the
    association. ACIA are currently reviewing the
    distribution of AICA welcome letter and
  • DHS web page promote our association on DHS web
    page
  • AICA VICPA website updated 2001 further
    updating with additional information planned.
  • Association name change
  • Complete registered in 2000 as VICPA. Rules of
    association are currently being reviewed. It is
    likely that it will be necessary to vote on some
    minor changes at the 2003 AGM. The process for
    making changes to the rules will be in accordance
    with the rules of the association.
  • Target courses
  • Membership secretary is now working on a strategy
    for targeting potential new members.
  • Promote association with public and private
    health organisations management staff

  • A decision was made not to invest in this
    activity until the Association product has been
    well defined and accepted by members.

  • Dues were increased to 88 in 2001. VICPA have
    gradually re-established financial stability over
    the past 5 years, each year recording a modest
    profit.

  • 20,000 has now been invested to support a
    perpetual scholarship.

Introduction, Mission Values
This plan was developed by the VICPA executive
committee following 2 workshops conducted in 2002
and consultation with the membership of the
association. It builds on work that was
undertaken by the executive team in 2000 and the
needs analysis survey conducted during the same
year.
Our Mission VICPA - Preventing infection through
safe practice. We are a voluntary, not for
profit association representing Victorian
Infection Control professionals, working together
to promote infection prevention strategies in
health by fostering professional development and
standards of practice.

As these professional initiatives largely rely on
voluntary efforts to plan and undertake them ,
the Executive team have selected 3 action items
to address in 2003. All operational objectives
will be addressed. The shaded areas denote 2003
priorities.
These have been separated into to categories,
professional operational. Professional
objective and goals related to those strategies
designed to achieve the associations purposes
(see page 2). Operational objectives relate to
the strategies intended to improve internal
organisational operations.
