• My grandmothers father was a paratrooper in
  World War II and he also was one of the first
  people to jump out of glider planes

Glider Planes

• Glider planes were introduced in World War II and
  my great grandfather was one of the first people
  to jump from them.
• Glider planes are planes that were towed behind
  other planes and then let go of and they would
  glide on their own. These planes were made of
  low cost wood because there was no engine so
  there was only one way in and no way out.

Postcard to Family

• Dear Family,
• I just heard that I will be jumping from a new
  type of plane called a glider. I am very excited
  to be doing this and it a very prestigious honor.
  I cannot wait until this war is over. I miss you
  guys back home and I miss the cleanliness. Here
  it is not very clean and I think that my tour of
  duty may be cut short. Once again I miss you and
  I will write once I get back from the lines.
