Action Item 070524-1
  • With respect to governance, examine the DNS
policy and the DSGB charter for recommendations
to craft more in enterprise model, with the DSGB
being maintained. The review should include a
direction, priority, and guidance to the Warfare
Enterprise and Provider Enterprise leads. These
recommendations will be presented to the DS OAG
in June and forwarded to the DSGB in August for a
    decision.

Distance Support Charter
  • The Oct 18, 2006 DSGB Charter does not reflect
resource sponsors as directed in the March 22,
2007 DNS DS Policy Paper. The Policy Paper has
    Distance Support sponsorship shared between
OPNAV N4 and N6. It does not focus on Provider
    Enterprise coordination.
  • Action
  • Added OPNAV N4 and N6 as a DSGB Members in the DS
    Charter.
  • Added Provider Enterprise to the charter.

4
Distance Support Charter
  • DS Charter does fully address FORCEnet
Integration. FORCEnet Integration (FNI) needs to
be clarified, aligned, and expanded in the
    charter.
  • Action
  • More clearly defined NNWC responsibilities.

5
Distance Support Charter
  • DS OAG added the following
  • NNWC, supported by PEO and SYSCOM will evaluate
    Distance Support applications and systems
recommendations on the basis of impact to overall
    network performance.
  • If the infrastructure will not support a
    recommended capability, NNWC will provide
feedback to the initiative originator with an
analysis of what improvements are required to
support the new capability and their additional
    cost if applicable.

6
Distance Support Charter
  • Force Net Integration added the following
  • NNWC, supported by the PEOs and SYSCOMS will
review all Distance Support applications and
systems that are proposed for addition to the
network to determine if they are consistent with
    the authoritative systems architecture.
  • They will determine if the current network
    infrastructure can support Distance Support
applications and systems that are recommended and
approve implementation, or determine the costs
associated with making enhancements to the
infrastructure to support the new capabilities.
  • This determination will be provided to the DS OAG
chairman to support his recommendation to the
    DSGB chair.
