Solid Freeform Fabrication Morphology
TetraLattice
MSOE
  • TetraLattice Intro
  • With the additive nature of Solid Freeform
Fabrication it is possible to create structures
never thought possible, such as complex, three
    dimensional lattice structures. TetraLattice is
    one of these structures.
  • TetraLattice is modeled after the crystalline
structure found in diamond -tetrahedron- offering
a simple repeating lattice unit. Arrays of TL
units form complex structures as well as complex
channels within objects, resulting in many useful
    characteristics.
  •
  • Applications of TetraLattice
  • Based on this TetraLattice geometry
    -interconnected in all directions- several
applications have emerged and more are
    anticipated.
  • TetraLattice has been used for metal and
    composite castings. TetraLattice has more
    applications, including
  • Conformal cooling heating systems
  • Micro lattices scaffolds
  • Fast build style
  • Advanced Applications of TetraLattice
  • Since the inception of TetraLattice, MSOE has
realized that it is possible to intertwine two of
these lattice structures. The ability to
intermesh two lattice structures opens many new
    opportunities including
  • Gradient morphologies
  • Conformal thermal cycling
  • Transfer and filtering systems
  • Stress-reducing build style
