Mission
  • Explosive Ordnance Disposal (AFMAN 36-2108)
  • Performs, supervises, and manages explosive
    ordnance disposal (EOD) operations. Locates,
    identifies, disarms, neutralizes, recovers, and
    disposes of hazardous explosives conventional,
    chemical, biological, incendiary, and nuclear
    ordnance and criminal or terrorist devices.

Typical Response Guidelines
  • Command Post notifies EOD Flight
  • Flight prepares for response Entry Control
    Point (ECP) established, safe route identified
  • Team departs flight, arrives at ECP
  • Team Chief meets with IC, gets response update
  • Team prepares equipment robot, X-ray, bomb
    suit, hand tools, explosive cartridge check-out,
    and develops initial plan of attack
  • Team clears plan of attack with IC. This is what
    the team plans to do at the incident site
  • Team briefs results of first entry. Plan of
    attack may change when more information is gained
  • Team recommends future actions and consequences
    of those actions to the IC. IC approves course
    of action
