Problem Statement

• It is common practice for the production area to
  dump approximately 40 pounds of material per
  batch into the G Sump. The material is part of a
  system purge that includes 20 gallons of water.
  With the supply of virgin iodine continuously
  decreasing, it is becoming more important to find
  way to recover as much iodine from the recycled
  IPL stream as possible.

Goal Statement

• The goal of this effort is to recover all of the
  material from the system purges. Increasing the
  total recovered iodine by 40 pounds per charge
  would generate over 30M pounds of additional
  recovered iodine per year. The additional iodine
  recovery would yield a 259M savings in variable
  costs.
