- 14-19 entitlement to National Curriculum core and
foundation subjects to a Diploma from 2013 - Diplomas in 14 broad sector areas at levels 1
(foundation), 2 (intermediate) and 3 (advanced) - All will have functional maths, ICT and English
- Will combine best of vocational courses with A
levels and GCSEs - Advanced Diplomas alternative route to HE or high
skill employment - Developed by Diploma Development Partnerships led
by employers (through Sector Skills Councils) and

- The key partners involved in the qualification
development process are DDPs, Awarding Bodies and
QCA - The success of the qualification development
process depends on the strength of the
relationship between these groups - Specifically, it must be recognised that all
three partners must agree the outputs of each
stage of the qualification development process in
order for the qualification to be a success - This has been described as a three-way lock

- 145 (out of 361) consortia successful with good
spread involving 97 LAs - 31 L1, 44 L2, 25 L3, balance across Diploma
lines and Regionally c 40,000 learners - 30K (or 18K) to develop plans 114 modest
capital proposals agreed (totalling 45m) - 10 consortia to deliver all 5 Diploma lines
