Theory X
  • Assumes that employees are naturally lazy and
    will do as little work as possible
  • This is why the employees need to be threatened,
    closely supervised and controlled
  • Managers that use Theory X have a pessimistic
    attitude toward their workers and believe that it
    is their responsibility to get the employees to
    do their work

    follow, not lead, does not care about organized
    goals, and is not intelligent

    environment
  • Managers believe that work can be natural like
    play or rest
