  • Current priorities
  • Promoting Speaking listening throughout the
    curriculum.
  • Ofsted advice on maths teaching Teachers need
    to employ a broader range of strategies to enable
    pupils to discuss and reflect on the concepts
    being taught. (Ofsted 2003).
  • The development of investigative
    approachesremains weaker than other aspects of
    the mathematics curriculum. (Ofsted, 2006).
    Much research in other subject areas suggesting
    that peer discussion can help to develop these
    skills specifically (e.g. Keogh Naylor, 2007)
