  • ECA launched the Information Technology Center
for Africa in 1996 in order to showcase
technology for development and promote Awareness
and Capacity Building ECA through Training.
  • Partnering with CISCO, USAID, the governments of
Canada, Finland, Japan and others, ITCA has
organized a number of training activities for
    women, policymakers, ministers and others.

3
  • Internet Awareness
  • ICT and the Media,
  • HIV/AIDS sensitization and others.
  • CISCO's Certified Network Administrators Program
    for women.
  • In the process, we graduated more than 40 women

    numerous African countries

4
  • Constraints
  • Heavy financial burdens
  • Limited outreach potential
  • Limited ability to democratize access
  • Limited ability to measure impact

5
  • Expected Goals
  • Ability to engage stakeholders locally we can
now offer training to stakeholders without having
    them leave their home areas
  • Reduce financial burdens Access to our modules
online results in reduced training costs and
allows us to efficiently utilize funding to
explore and develop additional training material.
  • Develop dynamic and contextualized training
modules for Africas development Through our
aggressive partnership campaign, we want to
relativize innovative ICTs to address African
    development needs.
  • Democratizing Access Our main goal is to
democratize access to knowledge resources, i.e.,
get training and knowledge to the people who need
it the most. We believe we can turn Brain Drain
into Brain Gain and move from a Digital
    Divide toward Digital Inclusion.

6
  • Integration of ECA resources
  • Partnering with like-minded organizations
  • Continue to develop Portals for the advancement
and display of technology in the Africa region
