Aims of the Evening
  • To give you an overview of the options for your
    son/daughter at KS4
  • To provide you with information on alternative
    qualifications to GCSE
  • To explain the process of application
  • To provide you with an opportunity to discuss
    specific courses with relevant teachers

YEAR 9 SUBJECT CHOICES FOR YEARS 10/11
  • EVERYONE WILL TAKE
  • Religious Education
  • English most will take English Literature
  • Mathematics
  • One Modern Foreign Language
  • Core Science
  • Physical Education (not GCSE)
  • PSHCE

Year 9 10 Subject Choices
  • If you started an exam course in year 9 you will
    continue
  • it for one more year.
  • ICT Art Design Media
  • Performing Arts (Dance, Drama or Music)
  • Everyone else will be doing one of these two
    options
  • (just in year 10)
  • Triple/Higher Science (level 6 in Science is
    essential)
  • ICT
  • The above choices will not be available to those
    wanting
  • to take a Diploma.

Choose at least one MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGE
  • From
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Italian (twilight for those who have taken the
    course in years 8 9)

Choose a Science
  • Everyone will study Core Science plus either
  • Additional Science (must be taken by those who
    are considering doing a Science subject at A
    level).
  • Any one wishing to do triple Science must choose
    Additional Science as well.
  • Applied Science (this has a vocational/practical
    element to the course)

  • We are offering 3 applied courses, each course
    is equal to 2 GCSE (and uses 2 option choices)
  • Health and Social Care
  • Business Studies
  • Engineering

    Bock (HSC) or Mr Stavridis (Business) Mr
    Crawford (Engineering)

New Diploma coursesPink Form
  • This year we are offering 4 different Diploma
  • courses
  • Society, Health and Development
  • Business, Admin Finance
  • Engineering
  • Creative Media
  • Any one keen to do a Diploma, please see either
  • Dr Bock, Mr Crawford, Mr Stavridis, Mr Forster or
  • Mr Glover for further course details.

Young Apprenticeships Purple form
  • All Saints are offering the opportunity to take
    the following Apprenticeships at York College
  • Construction Craft Trades
    Construction - Technical
  • Hospitality Hairdressing
  • Sport
    Motor Industry
  • Students will be out of school for one day a
    week. Entry to these courses is
  • dependent on gaining at least a level 5 in
    English, Maths Science and being
  • successful in the interview at the College.
  • Those interested in a Young Apprenticeship should
    talk to Ms Bickley, places on
  • these courses are available to all year 10s in
    York and are limited .

EARLY BIRD FRENCH OR TWILIGHT ITALIAN
  • You can study French as a second or third foreign
    language by attending Early bird lessons, 8.10
    8.45, three mornings a week
  • It is possible for those who have attended
    twilight Italian classes this year to continue
    the twilight course.
  • Further details are in your handbook

What should I do next?
  • Tonight provides an opportunity to speak to
    subject specialists. It is important that you
    have asked all your questions, you will be
    committing to a course for 2 years.
  • When you have decided on the route you wish to
    take choose and fill in the correctly coloured
    application form.
