Scoring

• There are four parts to the event
• Lowest Cost (30 points)
• Cost Report (30 points)
• Event Day Visual Inspection (20 points)
• Event Day Manufacturing Processes (20 points)

• Pmin at last years event was about 10,000
• If your car was 10,000, you received 30 points
• If your car was 17,000 you received 16 points
• If your car was 18,000 you received 14 points
• If your car was 22,000 you received 6 points
• Out of a possible 1000 points for the competition

Cost Report

• Ten pages of process descriptions maximum in each
  section
• BOM, Receipts, Pictures and Prints do not count
  towards the ten pages.
• 10 pt. font minimum, 8-1/2 x 11, or A4
• Graded on Structure
• Include
• A cover
• Table of Contents
• Tabs for each section with labels
• A summary page for each section
• Page numbers
• All receipts
• Bill of Material (BOM)

• BOM
• The electronic copy is very important
• Keep the BOM in columns, in the order given, with
  the names given!
• An assembly tree will help with pricing
• As much detail as you wish, but at least include
  the items in the Appendix

Event Day / Visual Inspection

• If you are going to be late of have trouble
  making your time slot, let the cost team know as
  soon as possible and they will attempt to
  re-schedule you!

• Addendum
• Must be turned in at registration
• 1 page maximum
• You will receive no points for the cost event if
  the car does not match the report.
• Be prepared to talk about all eight sections
• Bring the car it does not need to be running
• You do not need to wear ties/suits
• Have one spokesman but this person does not
  need to answer all the questions.
• Expect to talk about the processes used to build
  your car.
• If there are large adjustments, these will be
  brought up.

Event Day Manufacturing Processes

• Be prepared to talk about all of them.
• Research what the real process would be. Be able
  to give reasons why.
• Know the key elements of how to produce a part.

• Your math properly
• Put car number and school name on report and
  disk.
• Ask questions early and often
• Ask questions of last years team.
• Notify SAE if you drop.

Dont

• Send useless volumes in your cost report.
• Bind each component group into separate books.
• Zip files.
• Use receipts older than three years.
• Cost beautification items.
