Why do this?
  • Benefit-driven, not mandate-driven
  • L2C allows replacing P-code in the long run
  • P code always educated guess PRN sequence not
    known, but reasonable approx possible
  • Consequently
  • Low C/N0 35dBHz compared CA
  • Loss of signal much more likely gt lower
    availability of dual-freq PVT
  • Also
  • longer acquisition time (lower availability) and
  • bias after acquisition up to few meters
    (dualfreq error)
  • L2C modulation known hence better quality
