6Advanced Materials
- Trex's CVC SiC products, fabricated utilizing
its patented CVC technology, are rapidly gaining
acceptance in a number of high value added
applications within the DoD and industry. - Semiconductor wafer processing equipment,
especially etch where the material has
demonstrated superior etch resistance - Mirrors and optics (up to 1.5 meter)
- Nuclear fuel rod cladding
- Components for high temperature (up to 3600F)
applications/environments. Trex CVC SiC
outperforms other silicon carbides by more than
1000F. - Ballistic applications
7e-Phocus
- Our e-Phocus subsidiarys patented Photoconductor
on Active Pixel (POAP) technology enables
coating of a complementary metal oxide and
semiconductor (CMOS) chip with a photoconductive
layer. Our CMOS image sensor provides desired
sensitivity, resolution, and low power
consumption at a low cost. The development of CCD
and CMOS sensors has enabled the creation of a
multi-billion dollar market. We expect our
e-Phocus subsidiary will be become a significant
participant in this multi-billion dollar market. - e-Phocus image chips will deliver unprecedented
price/performance features that customers need to
achieve their growth targets. They include
solutions for which POAP provides the lowest
cost for the required performance, like digital
still and cell phone cameras. These applications
use our chips in the visible portion of the
electromagnetic spectrum.

9Loea Corporation
- Hawaii based Loea Corporation led the Nation in
creating the first wireless, point-to-point
communications technology operating in the radio
frequency E-band millimeter spectrum of 71.0-86.0
GHz transferring 1.25 gigabits per second of
information. Loea petitioned the FCC to gain
access to this area of the spectrum in 2000, and
won approval. Loeas 2500 radio received
commercial FCC approval in July 2005 and is
currently being marketed for government and
commercial applications. Loeas wireless radios
penetrate rain, fog, clouds, snow, artillery
debris, volcanic ash (vog) and dust storms. The
U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and academic
institutions use Loea for primary and redundant
communications. Trex Enterprises spun out Loea
Corporation in 2000, Loeas 2500 product is GSA
approved.

10Silicon Kinetics
- With the worlds most versatile, most sensitive
and most economical set of instruments and sensor
chips, we aim for wide adoption of our nano-Pore
Optical lnterferometry (nPOI) platform for
biomolecular interaction analysis in both
academic research and pharmaceutical/biotech
industries. - Detection and quantitation of binding and
dissociation of biomolocules are critical in the
study of disease pathways, in the screening for
and development of potential drugs, and in
post-clinical patient monitoring. - On Silicon Kinetics label-free biosensor
platform, no reporter element or tag (such as a
fluorescent label) is required to detect and
quantitate the binding of biomolecules to
analytes in a sample. - As the most economical and versatile platform in
the industry, Silicon Kinetics brings
biomolecular interaction analysis within the
reach of the individual researcher, whether in
academia or in various research, drug discovery,
development or patient monitoring departments of
biotech and pharmaceutical firms.
11FOD Finder
FOD Finder is a revolutionary new technology
tool used by airports in the combat against the
estimated 4 Billion dollars in damage and loss of
aircraft utilization. The impact of FOD
ultimately cascades into the public sector
through avoidable delays in the aviation system
resulting in reduced reliability and public
confidence. Safety FOD Finders data
management system (A.I.R. Boss) provides airport
leadership with the ability to perform trend
analysis and Safety Risk Assessments (SRM) of
hazardous conditions, and identify metrics to
reduce the risk of a damaging FOD event while
increasing productivity of inspection personnel.
The FOD Finder has a built-in Runway Incursion
Prevention System to warn drivers of oncoming
runway and ILS boundaries. FOD Finder sees
through fog, rain, and nighttime conditions where
finding and removing hazards from runways and
taxiways is mission critical. Efficiency FOD
Finder can inspect a two-mile long runway in
less than 25 of the time of conventional
inspection methods. The speed and effectiveness
of FOD Finder reduces the time a runway is
closed for a detailed safety inspection,
increases runway utilization, and improves the
productivity of airfield personnel performing
inspections.
