2ECIS Program Mission
- To increase the number of qualified personnel to
serve young children with disabilities and their
families. In particular, the program seeks to
prepare personnel with the skills necessary to be
effective members of interdisciplinary teams
that operate from a developmental framework and
that incorporate a family-guided approach
to service delivery

10Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (ECIS)
License
- Qualifications
- Hold a bachelors degree in any field
- Can hold a current teaching license/certificate,
but not necessary because the ECIS is an initial
license - Entry into SPED masters degree program or entry
into special non-degree program (no more than 12
credits go towards masters degree) - Program requirements (41 to 66 graduate credits)
- Up to seven (7) curriculum courses (e.g.,
reading, math, science, expressive arts, social
studies, and sign language) See ECIS faculty for
review of transcripts - Nine (9) ECIS courses
