Dear Member Charters Junior Tennis Club has
exceeded all expectations this summer and has
produced some fantastic results. This is all
down to hard work, practice and commitment from
you all. Well done. Results The following
players certainly need a mention after some
great results during the Summer. George Irwin
beat two very highly ranked players to qualify
for the Semi Final at Bournemouth and the
Quarter final at Winchester. Both these
tournaments were Grade 3 events which is a great
achievement for George. Also this summer, Tom
Smith has played his way into 4 singles finals
and one doubles final. He was the runner up in
the County Road To Wimbledon event and he was the
runner up at Windsor and Basingstoke U14 U16
events. Tom came up against some very good
opposition in each final but he was not to be
denied when he partnered Michael Stokes in the
u14 doubles event at Windsor and won. Katrina
Smith showed great form when she beat the No2
seed at Windsor and qualified for the semi-final.
It has to be remembered that this is her first
year competing in LTA tennis events. Another
great achievement was from Connor Pearce who
recently qualified for the finals of the U10
event at Bradfield. Well done to you all and
everyone who has taken part in school matches and
LTA sanctioned events this year. Keep up the
good work.

School Matches We are now the official County
Schools Champions after our U13 boys team (Lasse
Bak Hansen, Michael Stokes, Brett Norman, Alex
Hills and Oliver Porter) put in lots of hard work
and dedication to beat off all the other school
teams in the tournament. The team are now
entered into the National stages of the
tournament so well done and good luck to you
all. Mini Tennis On Thursday 21st
September Charters School is hosting the first
Mini Tennis Festival. This event is open to all
the schools which have taken part in our Schools
Programme. The competition will consist of teams
of 6 players from all Primary school years.
This will be a fun day with tennis related games
so look out for details from your
school. Charters Championships The sun was hot,
the burgers were burnt but that didnt stop
everyone from having a great time. There were 44
entries into the tournament and 75 matches were
played. Tom Smith beat Tom Mawby to win the U15
event and Michael Stokes beat Brett Norman to win
the U13 event. Afterwards twelve pairs took part
in a fun family doubles session. Thank you to
everyone who supported this event. We raised
approximately 150 towards the club house.
Sponsorship We are still actively looking for
sponsors for our clubhouse. If you are
interested in supporting your club or know of
anyone who may be interested please let Simon
know. We will be looking to place wind breaks
around the tennis courts which are always a good
source of advertising. The club house is our
future and the only way forward for the club, so
if you have any suggestions or would like to make
a donation please speak to Simon.
