at the scene of a traffic accident or medical
emergency and may be called upon to put out a
fire, treat injuries, or perform other vital
    functions.
  • At fires, they connect hose lines to fire
hydrants, operate a pump to send water to high
pressure hoses, and provide emergency medical
    attention as needed.
  • Some Elite firefighters, called smoke jumpers,
parachute from air planes to reach otherwise
    inaccessible areas.

  • Farmers who grow crops have to plan, till, plant,
    fertilize, cultivate, spray, and harvest.
  • Farmers usually determine the best time to plant
and seed, apply fertilizer and chemicals,
    harvest, and market.

Working conditions
  • The work of farmers, ranchers, and agricultural
managers is often strenuous, work hours are long

four days, a night shift of fourteen hours for
three or four nights, then have three or four
days off, then repeat the cycle.

    First-line supervisors/managers of firefighting
prevention workers held about 62,000 jobs and
    fire inspectors held about 13,000.
  • Some large cities have thousands of career
firefighters, while many small towns have only a
    few.

number of fire fighters and usually operate on a
    subscription basis.

college with a concentration in agriculture.
  • Farmers, ranchers, and agricultural mangers also
must have enough technical knowledge crops
growing, conditions, and plant diseases to make
decisions ensuring the successful operation of
    their farms.
