• Emails, chat messengers, forum, weblogs are
  some of the online tools that have eased and
  fastened the dissemination of information

What is a weblog

• A blog short for webblog is a web page that
  serves as an online journal for an individual and
  accessible to the public

Applications

• Blog is used as a formal way of publishing
  individual work to a small or large audience,
  provision to post comment without editing the
  original posting is available
• It is an ease way of publishing new content, and
  automatically archive old posts and refreshing
  the content of the main page

• Blogs can be on any topic such library, banking,
  finance, Open Access, specific fields, education
  etc.

• Blogs are highly interactive
• Structure is a reverse chronological listing of
  post
• Blogs are easy to create and maintain.
• Each piece of content has a unique URL this means
  that every piece of content can be directly
  linked to, and directly quoted/discussed

• Bloggers can "syndicate" their content across the
  entire Web, while readers can subscribe to RSS
  Feeds and view them in a single place using an
  "aggregator" service such as NetNewsWire,
  NewsGator, or Bloglines. These services make it
  easier than ever for people to monitor
  developments in their areas of interest
