Requirement

• Approved Technology Plans are required in order
  to be eligible for e-Rate and Title IID money.
• In Texas, the first step involves a required
  needs assessment called the Campus STaR Chart
  which is fed by a required teacher level needs
  assessment called the Teacher STaR Chart

STaR Chart

• Campus STaR charts are required of all campuses
  in Texas before the district can submit a new
  tech plan or update a plan
• Teacher STaR charts are also required but this
  year, electronically, the campus charts can be
  submitted without them.

Technology Plan

• Must be written before you submit Form 470
• Can be verified in many ways
• If TEA is to verify this, must be SUBMITTED
  digitally in e-Plan or
• Any other method but be sure it will stand up in
  an audit

Technology Planning Timeline 2007-08

• Eligible Service list put out first by SLD then
  the Window dates for Form 471 determined
• This year November 14 through February 7
• So Form 470 has to be submitted 28 days prior to
  Form 471 and within the acceptable window.
• This year, before Christmas break would be good
• So Tech Plan must be written before Form 470
• This year, before Christmas break

What About Updated Plans -Timeline

• If you have any changes that reflect planning for
  items listed on your Form 470, then
• If you want TEA to verify that you had a written
  plan before you submit the 470, before Christmas
• Else
• Before March 31 which is when TEA and myself
  start emailing and calling worriedly
• Else
• Before May 31 which is before Title IID Starts

• ALL districts must visit the e-Plan site yearly

Use 1 To Update an Approved Plan

• This year, Texas LRPT correlates have changed
• Revisit each strategy after committee evaluations
• If updates are for e-Rateable items, this must be
  done before Form 470 is submitted

Use 2 To Get Plan Approval only

• Campus STaR Charts must be completed before Tech
  Plan submitted
• This year, sometime before March
• So Teacher STaR Chart must be completed before
  Campus STaR Charts submitted
• This year, can be done in the spring, probably
  early March
• (May 31 is Snapshot day by TEA)
• Submit plan before March 31, 2007
• Plan reviewed and approved by May 31, 2007

Use 3 Documentation of date of writing and to
get approval

• Campus STaR Charts must be completed before Tech
  Plan submitted
• This year, sometime in Nov or early Dec
• So Teacher STaR Chart must be completed before
  Campus STaR Charts submitted
• This year, can be done late Nov or early Dec
• Or could be done in the spring and the campus
  star charts revisited in the spring by
  principals. (May 31 is Snapshot day by TEA)
• Submit plan BEFORE submit Form 470 before
  Christmas holidays
• Plan reviewed and approved by May 31, 2007

  confidential
