Young Entrepreneurs Project (YEP) Background
  • Program designed for students to foster
    entrepreneurial spirit
  • Started in 2007 by California Community Colleges
    Chancellors Office through the Small
  • Business Development Center (SBDC)
  • to expose students to entrepreneurial
    opportunities in their field of study

    small businesses in North County San Diego
  • U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and
    Economic Workforce Development through
    California Community
  • Colleges (EWD) and hosted
  • by Mira Costa College

  • First time program offered, 86 students enrolled,
    Winners included three Mira Costa College
    students Aileen Lu, Ben Millen and Eike Bernsen
  • Changes for Spring 2009 term
  • No age restrictions (students of all ages may
    participate)
  • Flexible Instructor participation
  • You decide your level of participation
  • Tailor program to your needs
  • Test Drive Module
  • Students can easily test their business idea

  • All Students Complete the Test Drive Module
    - This will allow students to test their idea
    quickly and easily.
  • If students choose to go further they may
    complete the following
  • Five self-paced modules
  • Competition (Optional) 
  • Business Plan (1,000)
  • Best Logo, Website, Commercial and
  • Most Innovative Promotion (200 each)
