Title: The Deans Award for Good Writing
1The Deans Award for Good Writing The Faculty of
Social Sciences believes that good writing is
important and we want to recognize students who
are good writers. Awards are now presented in
the spring of each year to students in the
Faculty who show evidence of good writing in
their course essays. Initially, a 100 award is
presented to the student in each Department or
Centre in the Faculty who has submitted the best
paper during the previous academic year. There
is no application for this award. Instead,
papers will be nominated to the Chair/Director of
each Department or Centre by the faculty members
who have taught courses during the previous year.
The Chair then chooses the recipient of the BEST
STUDENT PAPER for the Department or Centre. All
of the award-winning papers from the Departments
and Centres across the Faculty of Social Sciences
are then recommended to the Dean for
consideration for the award for the BEST PAPER IN
THE FACULTY. After reading each of the papers
that are submitted, the Dean awards an additional
500 to the one person who has written the best
of the student papers that are submitted by the
Departments and Centres. For a complete list of
