Welcome

• On behalf of the EBRD TAM/BAS Programme, it is a
  great pleasure to announce that eleven (11)
  Kosovar Quality Managers, who attended the LAC
  (Lead Auditor Course ) will officially receive
  the internationally recognized certificates for
• Lead Auditors
• 11 trainees were qualified to attend the five
  course and take the exam
• After successfully passing the exam they
  officially have been entitled to becoming Lead
  Auditors certified by Bureau Veritas d.o.o and
  IRCA (International Registered Certified
  Auditors)

Addressing the Demand

• Kosovar entrepreneurs understood very well the
  need and necessity to comply with international
  quality standards by using advanced management
  tools for tackling competition and improving
  operational efficiency
• Thus, the demand for expertise in Quality
  Management has been constantly increasing over
  the last three years
• In response to such demand, in Kosovo till late
  2006
• Only two (2) registered and qualified local
  consultants were entitled to offering high-level
  expertise in this matter
• After graduation of the two generations of QMS,
  additional ten (10) local professional
  consultants (consulting firms) started with
  provision of the services to the local market

Addressing the Demand (2)

• EBRD BAS Priority
• Filling the gap between increasing demand by SME
  community and building local professional service
  capacities became one of the priority targets of
  the EBRD BAS Programme
• Of actual 144 projects since March 2005, 34 are
  in the area of Quality Management Systems (ISO
  9001, ISO 17025, HACCP and others) out of which
  up-to-date
• Up-to-date 21 companies are certified with ISO
  certificates from various international
  certification bodies such as TUV - Germany, SGS
  - Swiss, Lloyds, Global International UKAS, UK,
  etc
• Additional 12 are in the process of implementing
  the respective quality management systems and are
  anticipated to become certified within next 1 to
  3 months

Course Impacts

• Integration and Competitiveness Impacts
• The training of local experts in the field of
  Quality Management increases the focus on the
  European Economic Area
• Additionally, the competitive capability of
  companies in Kosovo are strengthened and
  improved
• Kosovar experts get to know and learn modern
  methods of quality management and are enabled to
  implement a quality management system in
  companies and to carry out internal and external
  audits

Course Impacts

• Outlook after conclusion of the project
• Quality Lead Auditors are equipped to understand
  the ISO 90012000 standards, understand key
  quality issues, plan an audit against a set of
  audit criteria, successfully execute a quality
  management systems audit, create clear, concise
  and relevant audit reports, communicate reports
  to clients
• Consequences for the target group/region/country
• The certified auditors have better ability to
  assist Kosovar enterprises in introducing quality
  management systems, in providing them with
  consultancy services and finally accompanying
  them to certification
• Assure the efficiency of the implemented Quality
  Management Systems and new systems that are to be
  implemented
• Kosovo becomes increasingly integrated in the
  regional and European economy

Future Developments

• The BAS Programme in partnership with its
  institutional partners plans to support
  organization of similar training sessions in
  order to develop the local services sector for
  the benefit of the business community and
  consumers
• Assist graduates through typical BAS projects
  (Introduction and Implementation of relevant ISO
  Standards)
• Finance launching the web based platform for two
  most common quality standards (ISO 90012000
  ISO 22000)
• Project will be implemented in partnership with
  KCC
• Continue cooperating with other donors in
  strengthening and building new capacities that
  will be able to serve the current and future
  needs of the business community of Kosovo
