MOTIVATION

• Improve the quality standards in the valuation of
  externalities produced by the different types of
  forest in Europe, agreeing on valuation protocols
• Improve the transferability of forest values

OBJECTIVES

• 1. To write a full best-practice research guide
  or protocol for each of the main valuation
  methods
• Hedonic pricing
• Travel cost
• Contingent valuation
• Choice modelling
• 2. To write a protocol for benefit transfer
  practices
• 3. To disseminate the results to end-users
• 4. To identify further research

BENEFITS

• Achievement of a better and consistent quality
  level in forest valuation exercises undertaken in
  Europe
• improvement in the practice of benefit transfer,
  and therefore making more and better use of
  forest externality values
• provision of more reliable monetary estimations
  of forest externalities to the end-users
• suggestions for further research
