What is koinonia?

• 1 Corinthians 19
• God is faithful, by whom you were called into the
  fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord
• Ephesians 35-6
• In former generations this mystery was not made
  known to humankind, as it has now been revealed
  to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit
  that is, the Gentiles have become fellow-heirs,
  members of the same body, and sharers in the
  promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

• Hebrews 312-14
• Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you
  may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns
  away from the living God. But exhort one another
  every day, as long as it is called today, so
  that none of you may be hardened by the
  deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partners
  of Christ, if only we hold our first confidence
  firm to the end.

• Romans 814-17
• For all who are led by the Spirit of God are
  children of God. For you did not receive a spirit
  of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have
  received a spirit of adoption. When we cry,
  Abba! Father! it is that very Spirit bearing
  witness with our spirit that we are children of
  God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God
  and joint heirs with Christif, in fact, we
  suffer with him so that we may also be glorified
  with him.

  consolation, who consoles us in all our
  affliction, so that we may be able to console
  those who are in any affliction with the
  consolation with which we ourselves are consoled
  by God. ... Our hope for you is unshaken for we
  know that as you share in our sufferings, so also
  you share in our consolation.

• 1 Peter 412-14
• Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal
  that is taking place among you to test you, as
  though something strange were happening to you.
  But rejoice in so far as you are sharing Christs
  sufferings, so that you may also be glad and
  shout for joy when his glory is revealed. If you
  are reviled for the name of Christ, you are
  blessed, because the spirit of glory, which is
  the Spirit of God, is resting on you.

• Philippians 127 25
• Only, live your life in a manner worthy of the
  gospel of Christ, so that ... I will know that
  you are standing firm in one spirit, striving
  side by side with one mind for the faith of the
  gospel ... For he has graciously granted you the
  privilege not only of believing in Christ, but of
  suffering for him as well since you are having
  the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear
  that I still have.
• If then there is any encouragement in Christ, any
  consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit,
  any compassion and sympathy, make my joy
  complete be of the same mind, having the same
  love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do
  nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in
  humility regard others as better than yourselves.
  Let each of you look not to your own interests,
  but to the interests of others. Let the same mind
  be in you that was in Christ Jesus ...

• Philippians 310-11
• I want to know Christ and the power of his
  resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by
  becoming like him in his death, if somehow I may
  attain the resurrection from the dead.
• Philippians 415
• You Philippians indeed know that in the early
  days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no
  church shared with me in the matter of giving and
  receiving, except you alone.

• A common life with the characteristics of Jesus
  life
• sacrificial generosity
• willing obedience to the point of death
• embracing suffering
• living by the power of the resurrection

What is koinonia?

• 1 Corinthians 1016-17
• The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a
  koinonia in the blood of Christ? The bread that
  we break, is it not a koinonia in the body of
  Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are
  many are one body

What is a fresh expression?

• A fresh expression is a form of church for our
  changing culture established primarily for the
  benefit of people who are not yet members of any
  church.
• It will come into being through principles of
  listening, service, incarnational mission and
  making disciples.
• It will have the potential to become a mature
  expression of church shaped by the gospel and the
  enduring marks of the church and for its cultural
  context.
