Title: WAGNER CONNERY NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS ACT

1

WAGNER CONNERY NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS ACT
JULY 1935
  • The Act was introduced by Senator Robert F.
Wagner as Roosevelt was reluctant to become
    involved in labour relations legislation,
therefore the Act went throught Congresss without
    his support.
  • The Wagner Act of 1935 legalised unions rights
and established a National Labor Relations Board
to oversee the laborers negotiations with their
    employers.
  • It guaranteed workers the rights to collective
bargaining and prevented employers from engaging
    in unfair labor practices.
  • The NLRB replaced the National Labor Board, which
the United States Supreme Court effectively
disbanded when it ruled that the National
Industrial Recovery Act was unconstitutional in
    1935.
