On the same day the Bexar County LEPC hosted
EPAs Region 6 Emergency Planning Workshop, local
emergency response crews were responding to a
real world event.
Response to this real event demonstrated the
success of past local emergency planning efforts.

Participants from Bexar Countys Emergency
Management Office, Sheriff's Office, San Antonio
Water System and Oklahoma DEQ use CAMEO software
to estimate the footprint for a chemical release.

Personnel from TCEQ, FEMA, OSHA and local
agencies enjoy refreshments during workshop
breaks.

Workshop participants learn about chemical
hazards encountered in responding to and cleaning
up clandestine methamphetamine laboratory
operations.

Workshop participants were made aware of the ABCs
of methamphetamine labs - from chemistry to
potential hazards of soiled boots. Thanks to
Region 6 EPA staff and LEPC volunteers for
bringing these workshops to Bexar County and
helping to make local emergency planning and
response even better. Most of all, thanks to all
participants for helping to make these workshops
a huge success for the Bexar County LEPC.
