Title: FAST
1FAST FOR HOPE
2What is Fast for Hope?
- Fast for Hope is a fundraising effort that
supports both our local communities and the world
at large. - During Rotarys anniversary week, the week
surrounding February 23rd, is the time when most
District 5950 Clubs participate in Fast for Hope.
3How does it work?
- When we Fast for Hope, Rotarians designate one
weekly meeting meal and then abstain or eat
sparingly. - The money saved is assigned to a greater good.
- Some Clubs simply build this donation into their
annual budgets.
4It does make a difference
- These monies help provide the basic daily needs
for those less fortunate than ourselves - plus
aid the progress toward self sufficiency. - Our goal for 2007-08 is 15 per member, minimum
10 - with 100 participation from the District
5950 Clubs.
5 When did Fast for Hope originate?
- In 1986, District 5950 initiated the Fast for
Hope program to fund World Community Service
(WCS) projects. It has been expanded to include
Neighborhood Community Services. Funds are split
roughly 50-50 between the two - This program allows our District to respond to
humanitarian needs around the world by providing
funding for clean water, supplies, medical care,
relief support and food.
6Special requests andemergency relief
- Fast for Hope dollars allocated to WCS and NCS
have typically been used for special requests and
emergency relief that do not fall within the
guidelines of the traditional Matching Grant
Programs offered through the Rotary International
Foundation.

dirt!

19How can you participate?
- By supporting Fast For Hope, Rotarians will make
a difference in our communities and our world. - Clubs may tap into these two avenues,
- World Community Service (WCS) and
- Neighborhood Community Service (NCS),
- for additional project monies to-
- feed and enrich the souls as well as the
bodies. -
