THE CULTURAL MEDIATION IN SERVICES
  • THE MEDIATOR Who is he/she?

  • Foreigners with immigration experience
  • Good knowledge of the culture and written Italian
    language

    reality of the own country context
  • Good knowledge of the territory and Italian
    reality in which they operate

  • The services should be ensured in the various
    structures frequented by immigrants.The presence
    of the mediator is to ensure dialog in various
    languages.
  • The service also include
  • A programmed presence
  • Occasional presence on phone call
  • A telephone interpretation through the
    switchboard which quickly puts you in connection
    with the requesting structure with mediator of
    the language asked for
  • The capability of access to the services
  • A story of immigration which will be able to
    establish the emotive and culture empathy
    necessary to construct relation in communication
    between mediators and operators

  • To have a good knowledge of the Italian reality
    in which the mediator operates
  • High competence in language oral and written
    in mother tongues (knowledge that can be lost if

AIMS OF CULTURAL MEDIATION
  • Remove cultural obstacles that hinders
    communication between foreign language users and
    Italian institutions and services
  • Promote a more extensive and rationalized use of
    services and Italian institution on behalf of
    foreign uses
  • Improve the quality and equity of the
    presentation of services offered to foreign users
  • Uphold the social integration of the immigrant
    population in the local community, at regional as
    well as at national level, in social services in
    schools and cultural institutions, in health
    premises and work places
  • Promote and sustain actions of cultural and
    social mediation in institutional conflicts
    between immigrant and the Italian institution -
    Identify positive opportunities and ways to
    prevent conflicts and deteriorating of conflict
    as well
