Feasibility Study Analysis
  • No fuel debt but fuel poverty found
  • Tenants were unable to access grants
  • Inadequate insulation and heating
  • High number of benefit recipients
  • High migration rate of population
  • These findings were as a result of visiting and
    interviewing over 1,000 residents in the project
    area

  • Advice given to tenants on accessing other

Phase 3
  • Installed Cavity Wall Insulation into a further
    2500 dwellings
  • Installed Loft Insulation into at least 620
    dwellings
  • Issue a further 6,000 Low energy light bulbs ( 2
    per dwelling)
  • Issued 2800 energy advice sheet to Tenants
  • Issued 160 Hot water tank jackets where required
  • Gave advice on other grants and services
    available
  • Expanded the project area Across the rest of
    Bournemouth but still focusing promotion within
    Boscombe and Springbourne.
  • 800,000 funding secured from Utilities, Council
    and Installer
  • Completed end of March 2007
  • 800 properties already identified and on list for
    next
  • phase and round of funding

Phases 4, 5, and Poole - to date
  • Installed 1850 CWI
  • Installed 850 Lofts
  • Supplied 100 Hot Water Tank Jackets
  • Supplied 4,000 low energy light bulbs
  • Supplied 2,000 PC powerdown plugs
  • Distributed another 2,000 energy advice sheets
  • To date the project has dealt with over 550
    Private Landlords, 25
  • letting and management agents
  • We have now had interest from other authorities
    around the country

Savings made on project to date
  • Annual carbon savings of around 1,700 tonnes
  • Annual CO2 savings of around 6250 tonnes
  • Annual household savings in the region of
    800,000
  • Over the lifetime of the measures the total CO2
    saved will be in the region of 110,000 Tonnes
  • The scheme has attracted total funding in excess
    of 1.58 M
  • Continuation of the scheme in Bournemouth this
    financial year should see a further 1500
    dwellings receive the works
