3
  • Once upon a time in Sparta there lived a helot
named Helena. She lived with her step father,
step sister, and step brother. The brother and
sister were very cruel to Helena. The father was
    a very fat lazy man.

4
  • She had to do everything for them and she was
miserable! One day a nice messenger named
Hermes, came along with good news and bad news. He
said,The wives of Generals died by a sneak
    attack from the Persians.

5
  • He also said, I have invitations for all the
women, girls, and young ladies in the land. It
was one of the rarest times that boys and girls
    danced together.

6
  • The step sister,Persephone, was so excited.
  • Helena was excited too but she didnt show it,
because she knew she couldnt go. Helena was
very upset because she had to get everyone ready.
She had to make their clothes from scratch. She
also had to do their hair in hurry!

7
  • When they finally left, Helenas
    godmother,Hera,appeared. She was wearing a
beautiful white gown. Also with her were other
    Gods named-Athena,Ares,Artemis,and Poseidon. Hera
made the gown and the glass slippers. Athena and
Ares will drive the carriage. After Artemis made
the carriage out of an old pot from the kitchen.
Poseidon made the horses, one was Pegasus.

8
  • As soon as her Godmother, came they were off to
the ball. As soon as they got there a young
general caught Helena by the eye. They danced all
night till ten oclock when her dress turned back
    to her helot clothes.

9
  • She ran off. The next night the same thing
happened but she left at eleven oclock. The
third night was a little bit different. This
time she fell in love!!! She also lost track of
time and had to run out the door.

10
  • She lost her glove while running away. The
general was very upset, he never even figured out
    her name.
  • He noticed the glove was unusually small.
  • So he got his best friend, Ulysses, to help
find her. He searched high and low. He tried it
on every womens hand. But none of the women had
    hands that small!

11
  • Finally,he got to the last house! He had almost
    lost all hope.
  • But the step sister had already heard the
general was coming to all the houses in the
land,so she locked Helena up in the covered
courtyard. There was a crack in the door and he
saw something moving,so he knew there was at
least one person in the house.

12
  • He went into the house and he asked Pluto, the
father, if there were any women in the house.
But of course he only mentioned his daughter.
When she came in the room she tried on the glove,
    but it didnt fit.

13
  • He asked what was in the covered courtyard. The
sister said Nothing at all, nothing at all.
The general asked if he could check it out.
  • When he got down there, he noticed there was a
young lady sitting in the corner.

14
  • She tried the glove on and it fit! She was so
happy, she could cry and so was he! After a
couple minuets of silence,he finally got enough
courage to ask her to marry him. That very
day, they got married. They had some lovely
children. A girl named Pero and a boy named
Arcas. And so then on they lived happily ever
    after!
