MANIFESTO
New Hedonism
We follow only one law BEAUTY We perfect
ourselves only through the worship of BEAUTY The
more we know , the more we want to know We seek
to elaborate a new scheme of life that will find
in the spiritualizing of the senses its highest
realization where the true rediscovered nature of
the senses is a fine instinct for beauty. The
senses, no less than the soul , have their
spiritual mysteries to reveal Our mode of life
will never be subordinated to any theory or
system that involves the sacrifice of passionate
experience The aim of life is to be experience
itself and not the fruits of experience (sweet or
bitter as they may be) We will live intensely
concentrating upon the moments of a life that is
itself but a moment Art is the only authentic
value of existence . It is the only refuge, the
only defence against vulgarity. We live our life
as if it were a work of art since life itself is
the first, the greatest of all arts and for it
all the other arts seem to be just a
preparation. We surround ourselves with beautiful
things , flowers and fragrant essences , precious
furniture , rare clothes , fantastic pictures
because we want to satisfy the pleasure to enjoy
temptations . We consider that the only way to
get rid of temptation is to yield to it. We can
resist everything except temptations The past is
what men shouldnt have been The present is what
men shouldnt be The future belongs to the dandy
The exquisite minds will govern. We sometimes
see evil simply as a mode through which we can
realize our concept of the beautiful
