  • This session is intended to help you determine
    bottle necks in your system quickly.
  • It will also include information on how to locate
    problems
  • Lastly will be some assistance with some common
    problems. A tour of the data bases we use to
    determine problems and solutions.

  • Collecting performance data can be valuable for
    you and your company. It can assist in sizing
    your system and projecting growth.
  • Being able to determine whether the problem is an
    application or hardware oriented problem can also
    be helpful.
  • Understanding how to look for hardware problem is
    invaluable.

Problem Detection
  • In addition to the commands we have previously
    covered we need to understand how hardware
    problems can affect performance.
  • RAID-5 Disk failures or Cache battery errors.
  • Network or interface errors.
  • Device or I/O errors
  • Software Problem Analysis

  • SST passwords are required since V5R1
  • They include QSECOFR, QSRV, 22222222, 11111111.
  • Default password id the same as user except it
    must be upper case.
  • This is not the same user id that is used for the
    operating system.
  • Depending on Security level you may need
    assistance in changing.
