TEIL main objectives

• The project was established in order to see the
  possibility of integrating Information
  Communication Technologies in the teaching,
  learning and research activities   at the
  University..
• Faculty members were sensitized on e-learning
  and  received some training on how they can make
  use of an  online  learning Platform(Blackboard)
  and other related courses to enhance their 
  teaching activities

• TEIL-Technology Enhanced Independent Learning
  Environment
• It started  around 1998 and was coordinated by  
  UCC   Ltd
• Established to assist lecturers to integrate ICT
  in teaching,learning and research
• UDSM Staff from different faculties received
  training on how to make use of a Learning
  management system (Blackboard) to teach

Project Scope

• The Project focuses on all 3 Campuses of the
  University of Dar es Salaam-Mlimani, University
  College of Lands and Architectural studies(UCLAS)
  and Muhimbili College of Health Sciences-MUCHS

Current Project Status

• Currently the TEIL project is over but its
  activities have been taken over by the
  Instructional Technology Resource Unit(ITRU) 
  and  expanded to  emphasize more on the
  pedagogical component of eLearning,which was not
  much emphasized in the TEIL project.
• ITRU conducts training workshops on Instructional
  design and assists faculties in implementing
  eLearning Programmes
• ITRU aims also at developing an eLearning policy
  and master plan for the University of Dar es
  Salaam
