3 years - Early-stage researchers and experienced
researchers with up to 10 years of experience can

International Fellowships (IIF)
- IIF intends to attract top-class researchers from
Third Countries (countries outside EU/Associated
States), offering them research training in
Europe - IIF provides improvement of cooperation with
Third Countries through training their
experienced researchers - There is possibility of financial support and
reintegration phase for researchers from
developing countries and emerging and transition
economies - Deadline 12 February 2004

International Fellowships (OIF)

institution (where there is obligatory phase of
study for the fellow) and have it approved by it - Deadline 12 February 2004 (18

- Successful teams will be awarded a grant of up to
4 years based on a well-defined research program - Team leader selects the team members and they

- Aims to give public recognition to the excellence
of researchers, having benefited from training
and mobility support of the Community for minimum
one year - Candidates can propose themselves or may be

- MC Chairs aim to support world-class researchers
for encouraging them to restart/continue their
studies in Europe - World-class researchers from all nationalities
are eligible - The host institution should be in an EU/AS

the host institution - Commission selects the chair-holders and signs a
contract with the host - Successful candidate signs a separate agreement

- European Reintegration Grants (ERG)
- International Reintegration Grants (IRG)
- Above measures have been put into practice in
order to make - mobility more attractive by reducing negative
impacts on a - researchers career and making it easier for
fellows to continue - Their professional scientific career in their
home country or - elsewhere in Europe/Associated State after a
training period - abroad.
35REINTEGRATIONa) European Reintegration Grants
(ERG)
- Aims to encourage reintegration of researchers
from EU or Associated States, who have previously
benefited from a MC action for at least 2 years,
into professional scientific careers - Researcher applies to Commission together with
the host institution 6 months before the end of
his/her initial fellowship - Commission selects the successful proposals and
signs a contract with the reintegration host
36REINTEGRATION
- The grant (must be used within 1 year) goes
towards the undertaking a reintegration project - The host must ensure the effective integration of
the researcher for at least 2 years - (Deadline 15 January 2004- 31 October 2004)

Grants (IRG)
- Aims to encourage researchers from EU or
Associated States who have been working outside
Europe for at least 5 years to return to Europe
to share their knowledge and expertise - Researcher applies to the Commission jointly with
the host institution - Commission selects the proposal and signs a
contract with the reintegration host
38REINTEGRATION
- The grant (must be used within 2 years) goes
towards the undertaking a research project - The host institution must ensure the lasting
reintegration of the researchers for at least 3
