ARTIICLES RELATED TO STRUCTURAL RACISM
10
  • The Community Action Network makes an appropriate
vehicle to design a response to structural racism
    for the following reasons
  • CAAs are charged with considering hiring the
    poor and minorities.
  • CAAS advocate for and monitor fair housing,
    environmental justice and safe neighborhoods.
  • CAAs recognize that poverty comes in all colors.
  • CAAs monitor communities for changes such as
    emerging populations.
  • CAAs are governed by a tripartite Board which is
    diverse economically, racially and socially.
  • CAAs look for new and creative solutions to old
intractable problems as a matter of design.
  • CAAs are change agents which are reflected in
    design.
  • CAAs adhere to the principle of Maximum
    Feasible Participation.
  • CAAs are advocates for equal opportunity.
  • CAAs are committed to the principle of second
chance for the poor and minorities who may have
    sketchy work experiences wherever possible.
  • These practices have withstood the test of time
and served to develop the agency and the people
who work there and communities and the people who
    live there.
