16Seventh-day Sabbath is a sign of Gods Creative
and Redeeming power.
17Why did God ask Adam and Eve to rest on the
seventh-day Sabbath before He instructed them to
work for six days?
18 God saw that a Sabbath was essential for man,
even in Paradise. Man needed to lay aside his
own interests and pursuits for one day of the
seven, that he might more fully contemplate the
works of God and meditate upon His power and
goodness. Man needed a Sabbath to remind him
more vividly of God and to awaken gratitude
because all that he enjoyed and possessed came
from the beneficent hands of the Creator.
Ellen White, Patriarchs and Prophets, 48.
19The first seventh day Sabbath was Gods acted out
invitation to all mankind to depend on Him for
our survival.
