Prevention
  • Faculty and managers can take advantage of the
    numerous safety training classes available
    through Risk Management Safety, as well as
    consultative services for safety related issues

  • Make SAFETY your first concern

In Case of an Illness or InjuryWhat do I do?
  • Call University Police at x4567
  • (911 from a campus phone)
  • An officer will come out to take a report and
    assess the situation.
  • Paramedics will be called if necessary.
  • Faculty members and managers will notify Risk
    Management Safety at x4502

Medical Care
  • If the illness or injury requires medical care
    but is
  • not an emergency, transport the employee to
  • Concentra Medical Center

  • Remember a manager or faculty member must
  • transport the employee!

Medical Care Continued
  • Risk Management Safety will call ahead to let
    Concentra personnel know you are coming and
    provide authorization for your initial treatment.

Recordkeeping
  • Risk Management Safety will provide the
    employee with DWC-1 and intake forms to complete
    and return to RMS (within 24 hours)
  • Faculty or manager will complete an IIPP Form-5
    (Initial Investigation Report) available on the
    RMS Website. Return this form to RMS

Industrial Disability Leave
  • In some cases an employee may need to be placed
    on Industrial Disability Leave
  • IDL can cover an employee for up to 52 weeks for
    a work related injury or illness

Return To Work
  • In some instances employees may need modified
    duty when they return to work
  • RMS will assist the faculty or manager in
    determining duties appropriate to the
    restrictions recommended by the physician

Return To Work Continued
  • Upon returning to work with modified duties, the
    employee may be enrolled in a Transitional
    Employment Plan
  • Each Transitional Employment Plan is reviewed
    weekly up to a maximum of eight weeks.
