Desertification The Mysterious Truth
  • A- Overview-
  • What is Desertification?
  • It has a large number of definitions, it is the
    spread of desert-like conditions in arid and
    semi-arid regions. Also, degradation of land in
    arid, semi-arid and sub-humid areas. It is a
    gradual process of soil productivity loss and
    thinning of vegetation cover caused by human
    activities and climatic changes.
  • Why does it occur?
  • Desertification causes can be classified into two
    categories-
  • 1- Climatic causes
  • 2- Human causes

Study Area
  • Since the area of Al-Mafraq city is wide and has
    several climatic and human conditions, it is hard
    to cover it all. Therefore, I have chosen the
    western part of Al-Mafraq city.
