Solar Systems Connections
  • Off-Grid or stands a lone insulation. This solar
    panel is directly connected to a battery which
    stores the electricity generated and acts as the
    main power supply with an inverter.
  • Grid Support connection In this type solar panel
    is connected to the local electricity network and
    also to a back-up battery.
  • Grid Connection In this type the solar panel is
    connected to the local network only, without
    back-up battery.
  • Hybrid Connection. The solar panel can be used
    with other power supplies like the local engine
    generator or the wind power generator

Iraq and the Solar energy
  • Electric shortage. Solar energy may provide a
    free clean energy.
  • Solar electricity systems depends on battery as
    an energy storage, and there should be continuous
    need for regular maintenance. Unfortunately, In
    Iraq the is no interest in regular maintenance.
  • In case of grid connection, the energy could be
    provided by the ordinary people and no need for
    battery maintenance. This connection may be fit
    the Iraqi society.

  • Solar radiation in UK is about 300 W/m-square
    per day and Sun shin duration 6 h. For roof area
    100m square. Let the efficiency is 30, the
    produced energy is 54 kWh per day (300 x 100 x
    30 x 6) or 19.7 MWh per year.

    1.75 squared m. , and modules power 157 W.

  • GTI works by taking the 12 or 24 volt DC voltage
    from the solar panels and 'chopping' by turning
    it on and off at grid supply frequency (e.g. 50
    Hz) using a local oscillator and a power
    transistor.

    voltage to 220 to supply the needs of load.

The Way
  • Since this type of connection is quite useful for
    both the provider and the power authority
    (companies or governments) these authorities
    presents many benefits for the providers. This
    type of dealing encourages the power consumers to
    utilize solar energy and become power providers.
    The effect of that is quite obvious on the growth
    of grid connection as shown in Fig.1.
  • The producer sells the energy to the network and
    can get it from the network when he wants.
