• Physical digestion happens in the stomach. The
  stomach squeezes the meal, enzymes are produced
  and further break food down. After a while, food
  is reduced to chyme a soupy mixture.

• Most chemical digestion occurs in the small
  intestines. Chyme moves slowly. Proteins,
  carbs, and fats in the chyme are digested there
  with the help of enzymes.
