• According to MADD, the leading causes of death of
  Canadians aged 15 to 19 years old are alcohol
  related.
• There are approximately 7 of Canadians report
  driving after three or more drinks.

What is BAC?

• BAC is the concentration of alcohol in blood it
  is measured in percentage by volume.
• It can be measured by the Breathalyzer.
• Breathalyzer is the best way to determine if the
  person is drinking and driving

Specific Deterrence

• In Ontario, the penalty for drinking and driving
  is 12 hours administrative license suspension
• Civilians with low BAC could face very severe
  penalties, including a lifelong criminal record.
  (Therien, 2003).

Situational Crime Prevention

• Suggestion to deter crime
• More road blocks
• Harsher punishment
• Since the consequence is serious, there will be
  less chance for the injury and death rate to go
  up.

• Limit for BAC is 0.08
• 219.9 persons charged in rate per 100,000
  populations.

• Ontario
• Limit for BAC is 0.05.
• Stricter Law
• 160.8 persons charged in rate per 100,000
  populations.
