Jameel
  • The year is 2008. Your name is Jameel, a
    Palestinian living in the Gaza Strip. You are 33
    years old and have a wife and daughter.
  • Tensions between Israel and Hamas have led both
    sides to the brink of war. You and your family
    are sitting down to dinner when you hear a loud
    thud outside. Do you.
  • Go outside to investigate?

  • Rush your family downstairs?

You Rush Outside to Investigate
  • You see jets flying overhead and hear explosions
    in the distance its the Israeli Defense Force
  • Before you can run inside to safety, an Israeli
    artillery shell strikes your home and destroys it
    with your family inside. You scream out for your
    wife and daughter, but can do nothing to save
    them. A neighbor grabs you and drags you to
    safety.
  • Continue.

You Run Downstairs to Shelter
  • Wise Decision.
  • The Israeli Defense Force has begun an aerial
    bombardment of Gaza.
  • After several minutes of explosions, your house
    loses electricity..you wait with your family in
    the dark
  • Continue

Waiting for the Bombing to Stop
  • Your neighbor brings you to his basement where
    you wait for the bombing to stop
  • You pray that your family made it to their own
    shelter
  • The bombing has knocked out power and
    watersomeone must find a well for drinking
    wateryou decide to volunteer.
  • You venture outside

Waiting with Your Family
  • You wait for the bombing to stop with your
    family.
  • You then realized that you no longer have running
    water.you decide to venture out to find drinking
    water for you and your family
  • Go Outside

Continue to the well

The Well
  • You reach the well and collect several gallons of
    water
  • While at the well, Hamas soldiers motion
  • to you. Do you see what they want?
  • Talk to them
  • or
  • Ignore them

You walk over to the soldiers
  • The soldiers from Hamas are recruiting men to
    fight the coming Israeli invasion?
  • Yes, its time to fight for our freedom
  • No, I must take this water back

You Join Hamas
  • The Hamas militia is recruiting men to fight off
    the coming Israeli invasionthey offer you a
    pistol and some grenades and order you to march
    to the border
  • As Israeli tanks cross into Gaza, you begin
    throwing grenades and shootingyou manage to
    wound several men before the tank opens fire on
    your position....
  • You die instantly..
  • THE END

You ignore the soldiers
  • The soldiers are too busy trying to keep order.
    They ignore you..
  • You start walking back to safety, when you hear
    more artillery fire in the distance. You walk
    hurredly.
  • Suddenly you see Israeli tanks moving in the
    distance. Do you
  • Attempt to fight off the soldiers
  • or
  • Try to avoid them

Fight them off
  • Filled with rage at the sight of Israeli
    soldiers, you pick up rocks and hurl them at the
    soldiers.
  • The soldiers spot you and shoot you several
    times
  • You fall over backward.
  • The light quickly begins to fade and you die..
  • THE END

Sneak Past the Israelis
  • You try to sneak past the soldiers.
  • You manage to evade them, but catch their
    attention when you drop your container of water.
    The soldiers turn around, and you quickly
    surrender. The soldiers see you mean no harm, and
    continue walking
  • You make it back safely, but face the threat of
    daily bombardment, as well as food and water
    shortages. Life continues to be a struggle for
    you as a Palestinian

Hozan
  • You are Hozan, and Iraqi Kurd in 1988. You are 22
    years and are the mother of two sons, 16 and 12.
  • You live in Northern Iraq. You are a second class
    citizen in Iraq due to your ethnicity.
  • Your husband used to work in oil fields but is
    now forced to work as a herder to make ends meet.
  • While at home, you hear a loud noise in the
    distance
  • What could it be?

Bombs in the Distance
  • Do you run to a neighbors house to seek escape?
  • Do you stay at home and hope for the best?

You Stay Home
  • Bad Decision.the bomb in the distance carried
    chemical weapons.
  • As the wind carries the chemicals into your home,
    you and your children suffer a slow, painful
    death.

You run to your neighbors
  • Your neighbor happens to have a working car. You
    decide to travel to a safer area
  • During your escape, you come across an Iraqi
    roadblock.Do you
  • Stop at the Road Block?
  • Take your car off road and avoid the road block?

Stop at the Road Block
  • You are arrested at the road block and placed in
    a detention camp. When you arrive, you are
    separated from your oldest sonyou later learn
    that he was executed.
  • You survive in the camp with your younger son in
    terrible conditions. After several years, you are
    able to escape. You are thankful to survive to
    see the fall of Saddam Hussein, but are unsure
    what the future holds for you and your fellow
    Kurds
  • THE END

Leave the Road
  • You decide to leave the road and are able to make
    it to an isolated camp in the mountains. While
    there, you meet Kurdish rebels who are attempting
    to secure independence. You and your sons are
    offered the chance to join this rebellion. Do
    you?

  • No wayI have children to worry about

Joining the Rebels
  • You join the Kurdish rebels. You assist the
    rebellion by offering supplies and serving the
    soldiers. Your sons eventually become soldiers
    themselves. Your oldest survives, but your
    youngest is captured by Turks and thrown in
    prison.
  • You and your eldest son survive long enough to
    see the fall of Saddam Hussein. However, the
    future is still uncertain for you and your fellow
    Kurds.

You Can't Fight
  • You decide that you must spend your time
    defending your children. The rebels let you stay
    for a night and then ask for you to leave.
    Without the support of the Kurdish Rebels, you
    are quickly captured by the Iraqi military. You
    are accused of treason and executed along with
    your sons.
