Title: Orange County Water District
1Orange County Water District Water Recycling/Reuse
Western States Water Council November 16, 2006
Orange Countys Groundwater Authority
2OCWD - What Do We DoWe Recycle Water
- Provide an extremely reliable, high quality, and
low cost groundwater water supply to most of
Orange County - Serve 2.2 Million People in North and Central
Orange County with 70 of their water, that in
turn supports a 155 billion dollar pre year
economy - Improve water reliability and quality and protect
and enhance the environment along the way
3 Orange County Groundwater Basin
- 10-40 Million Acre Feet (MAF)
- 1 1.5 MAF usable storage
- Non adjudicated
- Very healthy basin
- Most monitored basin in So. Cal.
- Limited pockets of contamination being remediated
4Investment in recycled water and recharge
improvement projects has allowed basin production
to double

27Recycled Water Benefits Orange County
- Recycled water has enabled groundwater production
in Orange County to increase by about 150,000 AFY
and will further increase by an additional 72,000
AFY - The region and state benefits by 220,000 of
reduced need for imported water
