Words are powerful

• Their throat is an open grave they use their
  tongues to deceive. The venom of asps is under
  their lips. Their mouth is full of curses and
  bitterness, (Romans 313-14, ESV).
• I am a man of unclean lips, (Isaiah 65).
• 1 Peter 310 Whoever desires to love life and
  see good, let him keep his tongue from evil and
  his lips from speaking deceit.

The Power of the Tongue

• James 32-5a
• 1 John 32 Beloved, we are Gods children now,
  and what we will be has not yet appeared but we
  know that when he appears we shall be like him,
  because we shall see him as he is.
• committed no sin no guile was found on his
  lips, (1 Peter 222).
• Romans 122 Do not be conformed to this world,
  but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
  that by testing you may discern what is the will
  of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
• We demolish arguments and every pretension that
  sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and
  we take captive every thought to make it obedient
  to Christ, (2 Corinthians 105, NIV).

The Danger of the Tongue

• Matthew 1622-23 And Peter took him aside and
  began to rebuke him, saying, Far be it from you,
  Lord! This shall never happen to you. But he
  turned and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan!
  You are a hindrance to me. For you are not
  setting your mind on the things of God, but on
  the things of man.

The Call of the Tongue

• John 413-14 Everyone who drinks of this
  water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks
  of the water that I will give him will never be
  thirsty again. The water that I will give him
  will become in him a spring of water welling up
  to eternal life.

• Romans 813-14 For if you live according to
  the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you
  put to death the deeds of the body, you will
  live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God
  are sons of God.
