  • Little evidence of better access to capital
  • Health safety is often overlooked
  • On-going lack of appropriate indicators
  • SD driver initiatives largely government-led

  • From SD drivers inventory collected (58)
  • Most initiatives focused on environment
  • Most government-led
  • 20 effective, 15 failed
  • Criteria for assessing effectiveness were not
    reported in one case contradictory

  • From CE approaches inventory collected (30)
  • Most initiatives from developed countries
  • Most industry-led
  • 16 effective, 3 failed
  • Focus mainly on capacity building tools to solve
    local problems

  • To date, no evidence that good SD practice gets
    preferential treatment from banks and other
    institutions
  • Those with good SD practice tend to outperform,
    BUT no conclusive link
