Title: LEARN TO SWIM FOR FREE
1Mikindani Gazette
BOMA BOYS LOVE TO SWIM The
local club in Mnaida ward is Boma F.C. The club
was founded in 2006 and has quickly grown to have
nearly 30 players and 35 loyal supporters. Due to
the talents of the players the supporters are
rarely disappointed. For example in their last
three games the Boma Boys secured victories over
Mbuo and Likonde, plus and exciting 4-4 draw with
Mkangala. Members of the team range in age from
14 to 25, and from their 35 players the team
sometimes forms a junior team or a mixed age team
depending on the opponent. At the moment the team
only plays friendly matches in and around
Mikindani. However, this may soon change as the
club is in the process of registering with the
Mtwara Football Association. If our application
goes through, explained Mr Koporo, the teams
Secretary General We will play in the Mtwara
League which will help our players improve their
game because they will be exposed to better
opponents. Mr Koporo, welcomed any other youth
living in Mnaida ward, who are interested in
playing with Boma F.C to come along to training
at Mnaida Primary School. Furthermore, he warmly
welcomed new supporters. Come and watch us, he
said. Our motto is Satisfaction Guaranteed!

Boma swimming pool.
LEARN TO SWIM FOR FREE Does your child know how
to swim? Do you want them to know how? If you do,
then this is your chance for them to be taught in
a fun safe environment. All of us know how
dangerous it is not to know how to swim. So now
that the weather is getting warmer, the Boma
Hotel has decided to start a swimming club to
hopefully save the lives of our Mikindani
children. On Thursday the 30th of August the
first childrens swimming class will be held at
the Old Boma Hotel. The Boma has a beautiful big
clean swimming pool and all the children from
Mikindani aged between 10-15 are invited to come
and learn how to swim in it. Classes will be held
every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 pm until 4 pm.
However, there is a limit of four children to a
class and the courses only go for three weeks.
This means that a child can come and learn to
swim on Tuesday and Thursday, and then again for
two more weeks. After three weeks another
different four children will be taught. If you
are interested please come to the Old Boma Hotel
to put your name onto the timetable. The classes
will be taught in the shallow end of the pool by
two trained Boma staff. Towels and showers are
also provided for the children and parents are
very welcome to accompany their children and
watch the classes. Dont delay. Enroll your
child in the swimming class. It could save their
lives in the future.

the hotels pool. The Gazette spoke to the Boys
and asked them how they feel about swimming and
the new Childrens Swimming School. We love to
swim and we think the swimming classes are a
great idea because it is important to know how to
swim, particularly for people living here in
Mikindani. Ally Said the teams goal keeper
continued, Yes, and also swimming is good
exercise and fun!
